“Luceat lux vestra” is Latin for “Let your light shine!” It is taken from Matthew 5:16, where Jesus tells us to let our light shine before others. At Saint John Vianney Parish, we are thrilled to offer many opportunities for you to learn, grow, serve, be a part of a community, and give back. We hope you will consider sharing your time and talent with our whole community. Each person has something special to offer, and we hope you will let your light shine!
STUDY Initiative
Opportunities To Learn
We offer many opportunities for people of all ages to continue learning about their faith. For children of school age (grades 1-7), we invite you to join our Parish Religious Education Program (PREP). Likewise, adults who would like to become Roman Catholic can join our OCIA program (“Order of Christian Initiation of Adults”). Our toddlers are invited to grow at the Children's Liturgy of the Word during the 10:30 AM Mass on Sundays. Throughout the year, we also offer many faith formation programs for people of all ages! We also host Bible Study. Come join us!

Opportunities To Serve
Whether you are interested in serving as a liturgical minister, as part of our pastoral care team visiting the sick and elderly, in our education apostolate as a catechist or aide, or even on one of our parish committees, we would be grateful for the generous donation of your time and talent. Our community relies on the goodness of our parishioners who enrich our parish.

Opportunities To
Give Back
We are a parish community who serves. For example, we invite you to participate in our Caring for Friends meal program through which we donate hundreds of meals each week for the less fortunate in the Philadelphia region. Likewise, through our “SJV Scholars” program, we offer High School scholarships to qualified and needy Catholic students in our area. Our parish also participates in food programs during Thanksgiving and Easter, and provide gifts to bring a happy Christmas morning to needy children in Philadelphia. These are just some of the ways that you can serve the community by joining our parish!
